You can apply for Australian citizenship after having lived in Australia for four years (if you are a permanent resident)  when possessing a visa of any type, also after having lived in Australia for 12 months as a permanent resident, also Australian permanent residents between the ages of 18 and 59; minors between the ages of 16 and 17; and children under the age of 15 who are applying with a parent or legal guardian, eligible New Zealand residents partners or spouses of Australian citizens refugees or humanitarian migrants participants in the Commonwealth Child Migration Scheme.
