It is right to say " Take rest" when you ask someone to take rest from something , but requesting some one to rest and sleep. Use "have some rest" or " get some rest"  instead of "take a rest" .Rest is a noun in both expressions.

  • Ex: Take a rest from your hard job.
  • Ex: You should have some rest.
