The influential naturalist John Muir was important due to his contributions of preserveing the Yosemite Valley, Sequoia National Park and many other wilderness areas.

Also, he was the founder of Sierra Club that was an environmental organization to protect the wild places of the earth and promote responsible use of the earth's ecosystems.

he described his adventures in nature in his letters, essays and books so, he known as "John of the Mountains" and "Father of the National Parks".
