"Crawdad" refers to a freshwater fish called a crayfish. They are also known as craydids, crawdaddies, freshwater lobsters, rock lobsters, and baybugs. It is a crustacean that lives in freshwater environments worldwide, except for Antarctica and India. They belong to the superfamilies Astacoidea and Parastacoidea. They have gills that resemble feathers for breathing. Crayfish eat both living and decaying plants and animals as well as debris.
