Are skittles toxic

There is no obvious answer that suggests that  skittles are toxic or no as agencies have different opinions as following:

  • The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the US continues consider it safe for human consumption.
  • But, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has many concerns about titanium dioxide which is used as a food pigment and anti-caking agent in skittles and said it may cause chromosomal damage or genotoxicity.
  • Also, an additive European food safety regulators say that titanium dioxide is no longer safe for human consumption.
