Yes. candyland was a real plantation.

The Candyland Plantation is situated in Louisiana's St. Mary Parish. It was once a part of the French province of Louisiana and was established in 1763 by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville. The plantation was given its name by its proprietor Pierre Philippe Aubry, who did so in honour of the desserts he produced.
