The king has powers as chief of state, his primary duties include selecting the Prime Minister along with every other ministers, holding the next session of parliament, and approving legislation passed by parliament by presenting royal approval.

The King presides over Privy Council meetings every month to authorize Orders in Council, receives new and former ambassadors, and appoints a variety of other officials, including top judges, all while acting on the advice of the government. He meets with the prime minister once a week, and he gets crates of official documents every day for signature and information. Additionally, he frequently meets with top officials of all stripes.
