Where are kidneys located

The kidneys are high in the abdominal cavity, one on each side of the spine, and lie retroperitoneally at a slightly oblique angle. The right kidney is located just below the diaphragm and behind the liver, while the left kidney is located beneath the diaphragm, posterior to the spleen.
