Advantages of fermentation compared to catalytic addition of steam to ethene in ethanol production are; the fermentation is a renewable process because it use glucose that comes from plants on another hand catalytic addition of steam to ethene is not renewable process because it uses ethene that comes from oil

The second advantage is fermintation  need normal pressure and low temperature but the catalytic addition of steam to ethene needs very high pressure and very high temperature
