Yes, however can be used as a  conjunctive adverd in order to joining two simple sentences to make a compound sentence.

That will give you a sense of contrast or opposition between the two sentences.

And to do so just use a semi-Colon   before, and a comma after "however".

Example:

The boy claimed the mountain; however,he didn't prepare for it.
