why are moths attracted to light

Moths are attracted to lights because they trick moths into seeing optical illusions of dark areas near the edges of lights, and moths fly toward these dark places to hide. Another idea is that lights at night come to blind moths by flooding the light receptors in their eyes and exhausting them.
