Did is the past form of verb do and it is used as an auxiliary verb and also as a main verb. We can use did as a question word in the past. .We use it with all subjects : I / you / we / they / he / she / it

I did my homework yesterday.

Did you travel to Italy ?

The doctor did all his best to help the patient but in vain.
