Yes, tumors can be detected using an X-ray. Most of the X-ray passes through the body's soft tissues, such as blood, skin, fat, and muscle, and appears dark grey on the film. A bone or tumor, on the other hand, which is denser than soft tissue, allows only a small percentage of X-rays to pass through and appears white on an X-ray.
