A bleeder resistor is a standard resistor connected in parallel with a high voltage circuit to discharge the stored electrical charge upon shutdown. This uses a bleeder resistor to help prevent the excessive electrical charge from being discharged in order to maintain public safety because if the device is turned off and there are overcharges, a shock can occur
