At STP a certain mass of gas occupies a volume of 790 cm find the temperature at which the gas occupies 1000 cm and pass a pressure of 726 mmHg.

At initial state(at STP): p1=760 mmHg, v1=790 cm,T1=273.15°k.

At final state: p2 =726 mmHg, v2=1000 cm.

according to ideal gas law:

for initial state: p1v1=nRT1.      (1)

for final state: p2v2=nRT2.        (2)

dividing (1) by (2)

(p1v1)/(p2v2)=T1/T2 

T2=(p2v2/p1v1)*T1=(726*1000/760*790)*273.15=330.29°k.

The temperature at which the gas occupies 1000cm and pass a pressure of 726mmHg = 330.29°k.
