Anthropology is of Greek origin where "Anthropos" means human, and "Logos" means science. So this science will be devoted to the study of man.

Anthropology branches into both social anthropology, which studies the behavior of modern humans, and cultural anthropology, which studies the construction of human cultures and their performance and functions in every time and place. A linguistic anthropology that studies the effect of language on social life. And biological anthropology, which studies the biological evolution of man.  Archeology, which studies ancient human cultures by investigating material evidence, is a branch of anthropology in the United States  while in Europe it is viewed as a separate science in its own right, or closer to history than to anthropology.
