You should be concerned about blood in your stool if there is continuous rectal bleeding or large quantities of blood in stool or black stool.

You should also see your doctor if you suffered from fever or weakness combined with blood in stool.

Note that not all blood or black stool indicate presence of blood but it can be from eating tomatoes, beets and cranberries.
