Lysol was originally used as Antiseptic Disinfectant.

Gustav Raupenstrauch introduced  it in 1889  to overcome a cholera epidemic in Germany. 

While during the spanish flu pandemic lysol was advertised as effective vaccin to fight against the influenza virus .
