Urine is produced by three steps : 

1.filtration : in which the blood courses through the glomeruli and filtered then flow to Bowman's capsule.

The product which is formed is called glomerular filtrate.

2.reabsorption: which means movement of substances including water, glucose, sodium and other nutrients and ions out of the renal tubules back into blood capillaries.

3.secretion : which means that substances like potassium and hydrogen ions , ammonia and certain drugs move into the distal and collecting tubules where they are finally eliminated in the urine.
