The spectroscopy is the analysis of the light emitted or reflected from any material by a special device called a spectrometer. The emitted spectrum is divided into two parts:

1- Solids or dense gases: when heated, they produce a continuous spectrum.

2- Low density gases: When heated, they produce an emission spectrum.

It is used in physical and analytical chemistry to detect the presence of various substances in a sample

And in astronomy and remote sensing. And to measure the chemical composition and physical properties of astronomical objects, or to measure their velocities from the Doppler effect on their spectral lines.

There are three spectral measurement methods:

1- Absorption spectroscopy methods.

2- Emission spectroscopy methods.

3- Methods for dispersion spectroscopy.
