What keeps the blood from flowing back into a chamber of the heart?

Heart is provided with valves to control blood flowing between vessels and chambers, mitral valve  is located between left atrium and ventricle to permit flowing of oxygenated blood from atrium to ventricle and not flowing back. when mitral valve is closed , the valve between left ventricle and aorta is opened to carry oxygenated blood to body systems. also the tricuspid valve and vessels valves between pulmonary artery- right ventricle and right atrium - superior venae cava
