The Gospel of Luke was written to Theophilus which is a Greek name that means “friend of God” or “loved by God.”The opening verses of the Gospel stated that as following:
"Since many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the events that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, I too have decided, after doing thorough research from the very beginning, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught" (Luke 1:1-4)
